Assessment

At Stanton Vale School, assessment is personalised, meaningful and centred around each pupil’s individual learning journey.

We use Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to identify and monitor progress towards personalised learning outcomes and developmental targets. These targets are tailored to meet the needs, strengths and aspirations of every pupil.

Assessment is ongoing and evidence-based. Staff use Earwig to record and celebrate achievements through observations, photographs and video evidence captured throughout the school day. This allows us to recognise small steps of progress as well as significant milestones in learning, communication, independence and personal development.

Using Earwig enables staff, families and professionals to build a clear picture of each pupil’s progress over time. The evidence gathered helps inform future planning, supports effective teaching and ensures that learning remains relevant, engaging and appropriately challenging for every child.

We believe that assessment should celebrate achievement, support progress and reflect the unique ways in which our pupils learn and develop.
